1. What type of services do you provide?

My primary service is the design of graphics for business and personal web pages, including full web page sets and all page components (navigation buttons, dividers, etc.)  Other services I can provide include:

* Construction of page content (placing text and images on your page/s);

* Maintenance of your web site (changing/updating text and images);

* Inclusion of free Bravenet services such as guestbooks, forms, chat rooms, message boards etc.

* Search Engine Optimization

* Logo and Banner design

* Photo restoration or retouching

* e-Business cards

2. How much are your fees?

Please view the Pricing Schedule for basic prices on my services.

3. How long will it take to complete my webset?

It is difficult to estimate completion time for a project because there are so many variables.  Very broadly speaking, 10-14 business days would be a reasonable time frame.

4. Will I own the copyright on my webset?

You own the copyrights to any of your own writing, images created by your own hand and photos taken by you. You do not own the rights to any of the images I create for you or the design of the site. That copyright is retained by Designs by Kricket as the original creator of the artwork, and copyright is also retained by any third party sources of stock photographs, Javascript or other codes.  It's the same as purchasing a painting.  You own that artwork but the copyright is retained by the artist or their distributors.

The only exception to this is your logo. If I design your logo, the rights will belong to you. For more information on copyright issues, please view my sample web contract, paragraphs 4 and 9.

Essentially, what this means is you cannot alter or change the design or graphics of your web site without my consent. It also means I can place a small, out of the way signature at the bottom of your page letting your visitors know who created your site.

If you would like complete, 100% copyrights to your web site (meaning you have complete control over the graphics and layout and I relinquish all rights to the images and design), then we would negotiate an appropriate fee for sale of the rights.

5. Will I have exclusive rights to the set you design for me?

You will have exclusive rights to the custom webset that is designed for you, I will not re-sell your design and no one else will use it.

6. Can you set up a shopping cart on my business site?

Yes, I can set up a shopping cart on your business site but I do not provide this service.  I recommend Cart It (free) or PayPal as a low cost / high quality  providers of this service.

7. After the web design is started, do you send samples for my feedback?

Your feedback is one of the most important elements in producing satisfactory results.  My design process involves your hands-on interaction with the images and your ideas are crucial. Samples of the images are sent to you at each stage of the design for your feedback.  Once the design is finalized, any further changes are charged at the rate of $25.00 per hour, so it is important that you are satisfied with the design at each stage of development.

8. How many navigation buttons do I get with my custom set?

An unlimited amount... as many as you need.

9. Can I get the fonts and midi files from you?

I do not own the copyrights to any of the fonts or midi files and cannot legally sell or distribute them.

10. Will my webset be quick loading?

A quick loading webset is one of the key ingredients in my designs but the loading speed of the page depends on the number and size of the graphics you want included in your set.  The more graphics you require, the slower the page will load.

11. How do I pay you?

My preferred method of payment can be made using PayPal.  I also accept checks or postal money orders.

12. How do I use PayPal?

You can make payments to anyone who has an email address.  Simply click on the "PayPal" button and PayPal will open in a new window and guide you through the steps to make a payment.  You must open a free account with "PayPal" which takes just a few minutes.  Once you have an account you can pay for your webset via check, money order or credit/debit card using their secure servers and referring your payment to my email address...

After Paypal receives the payment they will notify me of your purchase.  This is the preferred method of payment but if you don't feel comfortable paying online, I do accept checks or postal money orders.

Payments are accepted in US funds only.  Please allow time for mail delivery and for the check to clear my bank before work begins on your project.

Please make your checks or money orders payable to:

14. What graphics program do you use?

I work mainly in Paint Shop Pro and use many different filters and presets.   I  use Microsoft Front Page as my editor and highly recommend it! There are so many programs and editors available for use in setting up your websites though so please understand that I can't possibly offer advice on how each individual program works. My sets are created using royalty-free photos, art, fonts, tubes, and various CD's that I've purchased.

15. What is Linkware?

Linkware sets are graphic sets that may be used on non-commercial sites at no financial charge to the customer.  However, they are not "free", a LINK (thus the term "link" ware) must be placed on the same and every page that the graphics appear on.

16.  How do I obtain a linkware set?

Linkware is not offered by Designs by Kricket at this time but there are many beautiful sets available on the internet.

17. What is Purchaseware?

When you purchase a set from my Template Gallery you are the sole owner of that set but a link back to my site is still required.  See #4 above

18. Can I alter your graphics?

I spend countless hours working on my graphics in an attempt to perfect the look that I want to present.  When somebody takes the graphics that I've worked on and changes (distorts, discolors, mirrors, manipulates, etc...) them, they are no longer a representation of my work.  When people view my credit at the bottom of a set, whether good or bad, they make a judgment.  So, if you've taken my graphics and made changes to them and then use my logo on it as the creator, it's a misrepresentation of my work that I'm being judged by.  It's okay to change the layout or the presentation of the graphics, I just ask that you don't alter the actual graphics.

19. What is bandwidth theft?

Bandwidth is the amount of data sent from one computer to another.  All Web Service Providers include a certain amount of bandwidth usage as part of their hosting package.  Exceeding the allocated amount translates into increased costs for site owners.  When a person links directly to an image on another persons' web server he is stealing that persons' bandwidth.  The correct way to save images is to either right click and select SAVE PICTURE AS to copy the image to your computer's hard drive, or simply download the zip file, if provided.
